MB2 Dental Is Giving Dentists the Opportunity to Grow and Scale Their Businesses

MB2 Dental is a special dental firm. It is unique because they work on cultivating autonomy for their dentists. Autonomy is very important if you want to run a dental practice efficiently and effectively. Dr. Chris Steven Villanueva, the founder of MB2 Dental, says that technology plays an important role for dentists. Online forums and groups allow dentists to communicate with each other and support each other. They can share information about what works and what does not. Dr. Villanueva explains that autonomy is important because healthcare is, at its core, a local initiative. It is not something that should be controlled by a board of businessmen who never stepped foot into the practice and do not know a thing or two about how to treat patients. That is why unlike other dental corporations that force its dentists to do things and to work according to their rules in exchange for resources, MB2 Dental aways lets their dentists have the final say in every decision, whether it is related to the medical side of their practice, namely treating patients, or whether it is related to the business side of their practice, such as marketing. At the end of the day, Dr. Chris Steven Villanueva explains, the practice is a reflection of the owner. The dentist is the owner. MB2 Dental provides resources, guidance, support, and advice, but it is up to the owner to make the final decisions regarding the thing that he or she owns, and learn more about MB2 Dental.

This is unlike a corporate group structure, which is how dental firms usually operate. In those cases, the dentist may not be able to decide for himself or herself which insurances to accept and which not to accept. At MB2 Dental, though, dentists have full autonomy in everything. By having the ability to focus on what is important to them and take off their shoulders the burden of taking care of the business side of their practice, dentists are able to scale their business and grow it. For example, many affiliates of MB2 Dental are able to open up additional locations, which would be very hard for a dentist who would need to use his or her precious time in order to focus on managing and running both locations. That is why it is so uncommon for a private practitioner to have two branches.

Advocacy Group Represents Youth during DACA Changes Assuring Rights and Lessening Fears

The immigrant community have been somewhat overwhelmed by the recent changes involving the immigration policies and laws. Immigration reform has created an issue within the country that affects not only immigrants but also those within the communities they live.

Any changes that occur require advocacy groups to help facilitate information to the immigrant population as well as act on their behalf to ensure that the changes are within the bounds of the law and the U.S. Constitution.

The policy change that has swept the country is with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program (DACA). With the dateline for any late renewals within the DACA program ending in October 2017, and the phase-off already in motion, advocacy groups are actively pursuing all options available to bring some type of positive resolution to the issue.

One of the most-prevalent advocacy groups to represent immigrants is the United We Dream (UWD) organization. The organization is determined to fight for a clean Dream Act on behalf of the immigrant youth within the country.

The mission of UWD is to empower youth immigrants; better known as –Dreamers- to stand up to the changes that Congress has enacted and form an alliance of support to bring a favorable outcome for the estimated 800,000 Dreamers within the country.

The actions led by many of the youth within UWD take the fear out of being undocumented. By becoming involved in the process, their actions uplift the voices of the 800,000 Dreamers which sends a powerful message of hope and determination for assuring their rights are protected.

Those within the organization have also begun a petition to send to Congress in order to have their voices heard on the phase-off for DACA.

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund has been facilitating information to also empower the immigrant community and the Dreamers. With an estimated 1,000 youths who will potentially lose their DACA protection everyday by March 6, 2018, the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund continues to facilitate resources and materials in order to give the immigrant youth and their families the necessary information to move forward without fear but with resilience and resourcefulness.

Since 2013, after Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin of the Phoenix News Times established the fund, immigrants within Arizona have depended on the material and resources that have been vital to the community.

The immigrant community will continue to need advocates as the entire nation prepares for the proposed changes ahead.
